How to get more Followers on Twitter

For those of you that don't know Twitter is a social network website with over 500 million users. Twitter is one of the most popular websites on the internet. Users can post and share messages of up to 140 characters which are known as Tweets. Twitter is really popular with celebrities and many of them use it to communicate with their fan base and deliver news about themselves. More and more businesses are slowly starting to use it to their advantage.

If you were to make an account now, it would most likely have very few followers, if any. This article details how to get more followers on Twitter.

Write Interesting Tweets

A lot of people just write crap tweets and then wonder why they don't get more followers. You have to write interesting tweets that would make people think or tweets that are funny or entertaining. This way if someone was to like your tweet, they could retweet it. Retweeting is when someone likes your tweet and it shows up on that users twitter page. This way their followers can see your tweet as well. Thus your tweet will go viral and you will get more fans. It's a win-win situation.

Link Everything Together

This is a must if you want to increase your presence on the internet. If you have a Facebook page, share the link for it. If you have a blog or website share the link for it. Have Instagram? Share the link for it on your pages. I think you get the gist now.  If you link and share the URL's for each of your pages, you will be sure to increase your web presence.

Complete your Profile

Make sure you fully complete your profile and upload a good, quality avatar and cover photo. The avatar and cover photo should represent your business and tell your followers about it. Also when writing out your profile and bio make it from the viewpoint of your followers. For example; if you have a skater fan base, you will want to use the same kind of language they would use. Make it seem authentic. Don't make it sound like it's a robot behind the Twitter page. Most people enjoy talking to real people.

Tweet Regularly 

Another surefire way of getting more followers on Twitter is to tweet often. Many people and Twitter enjoy active users on Twitter and a good guideline is one post a day or two if your feeling really happy. It is good to talk about a variety of different subjects and topics and not just one. Don't just spam your followers with tweets like 'please visit my site', because things like that will just end up making you lose followers. Don't know what else to talk about? Find interesting links. Unusual stories. Funny or interesting pictures, videos or even sound clips. Mix it up. 

Hashtags

Hashtags help you increase your visibility on Twitter if used in the right way. Hashtags are basically the things that are popular on Twitter and are trending. You can add your own hashtags onto your tweets or the you can add the hashtags that are currently trending on Twitter.

Celebrities

If you can get a celebrity to follow you and retweet you, you have kind of hit the jackpot on Twitter. Celebrities usually have tons of followers on Twitter and getting a retweet from them will increase your visibility. Lets just hope its an actual celebrity and not one of those Reality TV stars.
