Ten Tips to get to the Top of Search Engines

Getting to the top of search engines can be really challenging. For some people it is their dream to get to the top of the search engines. If you receive traffic from search engines it can be beneficial for you as it will bring a lot of traffic towards your website however getting traffic through search engines is not the only way to get traffic.

It can be hard to get started with getting found by Google and Co but once you have it does get a lot more easier. In this article you will get the know our top ten tips on getting to the top of search engines and how to stay at the top.

10. Write your content for humans, not search engines

You might have heard this one before but it really is important. Search engines base it on the keywords that people type in. If you use too many keywords and write just for search engines, most search engines would penalize you. It is best to write for your target audience instead of search engines. You should find out who your target audience is if you don't. Once you start writing your content for your target audience, you sites performance should go up.

9. Make sure you have a good domain name

Having a good domain name helps get to the top of search engines. Make sure whatever the name you choose it has something to do with the topic of blog. For example if your blog is about golf, you should have the name in your URL like www.ilovegolf.com. To get a good domain name at a cheap price at GoDaddy.

8. Have a good URL Structure

If you have a good URL structure for your website then your SEO is much better. Google gives more plus points if you have a good URL structure. For example which one is better;

www.themarketingguy.net/search-engines

www.themarketingguy.net/gh4582dhfsx

The first one is better because it describes what the page is going to be about, it tells you the page will be about search engines and this helps the search engine rank your page better. On the other hand the second one is just a bunch of random numbers so it won't benefit you in terms of SEO. So always remember to change the name of your URL to get ranked better in search engines.

7.  The Title of your Page

Getting the title of your page is very important. Search Engines take the title as a main thing and the title is what makes users click your website in search results. Have a good title and you will start to get better results. If you had a page about getting to the top of Google, an example of a good title would be;

How to Get to the top of Google

x ways to improve your ranking in search engines

A good title is descriptive and uses keywords that its users may be using. Use Google's Keyword Planner to see what keywords are popular. Also be sure to fill in the description and the META tags to let Google and other search engines know about your new content. Find out more about META Tags. Don't just stuff keywords in for the sake of it, you will get penalized for it. Yeah we know, search engines are really strict...

6. Get Social!

If you haven't already get social. Get a Facebook and Twitter account running for your website and start sharing your content on their as well. Google are using the Google +1 Button and it does place some significance on search engine results.

Search Engines do rank content based on shares and retweets on Social Media websites.

5. Don't Duplicate Content and Copy Content from other websites

This is a big no-no. For one your website will look unprofessional and if you copy from another website people will not see it as an authority website and instead of gaining more traffic and visitors, you will end up losing more traffic.

Google have not confirmed that they penalize websites but don't take the risk. Trust us don't do it, it's not worth it!

4. Guest Posting and Guest Blogging

Guest Posts are the classic way of getting your website ranked on search engines and it still works wonders. The Concept of Guest Blogging is simple really, you write an article for another blog which may be about anything and you post a link for your site at the end of the article which users can go to.

It may be slightly harder to acquire guest posts but they do carry more authority for the search engines and your site will be ranked higher.

Here is a great article that teaches you how to write an effective guest post.

3. Give away something FREE

Giving away something for free will not only build followers for your blog or website but it will also help your site rank better on search engines. Let me explain. People love free stuff. So they will be using FREE as a keyword to look for sites offering free stuff. Free is one of the most searched for term on the internet and people.

You can give away anything for free. Do you have any ebooks you would like to offer for free? Can you make your own Wordpress theme? Offer it for free. Your website will benefit from it.

2. Share your Site with everyone!

Make sure you spread your website and share it on a range of different websites. You could write Press Releases, Write articles on Article sharing websites, Share on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and share on Social Media websites like StumbleUpon, Digg and Delicious.

Get your visitors to share it on social network and social media sites and Google and other search engines will rank your site higher.

1. Quality over Quantity

Writing quality posts will be better then writing a lot of posts. Google rank content based on quality and relevance of what the user is searching for. If you answer everything that the user is looking for in their search then Google will rank your site higher than the rest. It might be hard to write a quality article but it will be worth it.

Check out this article on how to write a quality article.

Blogger vs. Wordpress: Which one is better?

A lot of bloggers have this discussion. Which one is actually better? Which platform do you use to build your blog on, and is there any other blogging sites? We will answer all these questions and more in this article.
With social networking sites rapidly gaining momentum, let’s not forget that there’s not a whole lot you can express in a status box or better yet 140 characters. A blog is an essential piece of real estate for any online business or simply those who’d like to express themselves without any constraints. Blogs are a great way to position yourself as an expert in your niche, and promote your products and services. Until a few years ago, blogs were regarded as online journals, but have evolved into marketing and advertising powerhouses that substantially boost your online presence.

There are a number of blogging platforms to choose from today so which one is right for you? Two of the distinguished names are Blogger (www.blogger.com)  and Wordpress (www.wordpress.org), and each of them has its own unique features to boast and maybe a handful of drawbacks as well. These blogging services are widely accepted and used, but if you’re just getting started with blogging, then choosing one or the other may seem overwhelming. For starters, both these platforms eradicate the need for any complex coding, and any intense backend modifications.

This type of complete blogging solution allows you focus on the most critical aspect of running a blog, and that is creating remarkable content. They come pre-installed with all the features needed to write, edit and manage your posts, with the help of WYSIWYG editors. For coders or those who possess some level of coding skills, there’s always the option to switch back and forth and insert the code yourself. Using hosted services such as Blogger or Wordpress doesn’t mean that you can’t make use of powerful features, but they let you do much more from creating customized forms and polls to integrating efficiently with social networking sites.

Brought to you by Google, Blogger was one of the first blogging platforms to be introduced, and was initially launched by Pyra Labs in 2009. Over the years it has been considerably revamped and is now more powerful than ever. Wordpress may have been a little late walking into the show in 2003, but has wasted no time in becoming the blogging platform of choice for even the most seasoned bloggers. According to statistics of 2011, Wordpress is a proffered blogging engine for more than 20% of blogs on the web, and this surge of appeal doesn’t seem to be coming to a halt anytime soon.

There are many things to consider when choosing between Wordpress and Bloggers, but regardless of your pick, you can’t go wrong with either. Both platforms offer a smooth setup process, but this may not be the case for all levels of users. Starting with blogger, it offers a streamlined setup process to the point where one may feel that it was designed exclusively to introduce blogging to the masses. You will however require a Google account to get started just like all their products, and then it’s just the matter of choosing your domain name and theme. Just like Blogger, setting up Wordpress is also pretty straightforward, but the only hiccup you may experience is if you’re adding plugins and other enhancements.

Blogger is free to use as well as Wordpress, but you will need a paid domain name and hosting for the latter. If you pick a free blogging platform such as blogger, your domain name would look something like this; yourwebsite.blogger.com. However, when you go with a self hosted blogging solution such as Wordpress, your domain name will read something like this; yourwebsite.com or myblog.com. This doesn’t mean that Blogger is not a good option, but you get limited flexibility in terms of features and control.

Applications such as Mailchimp and AWeber that help you build email lists, which contribute significantly to your blogs performance and can only be added to Wordpress and other self hosted blogging platforms. Blogger is a good option for those who are on a tight budget or just getting their feet wet with blogging, and overall provides a pleasant experience. It also offers an excellent choice of themes and designs to improve the aesthetic appeal of your blog.

As mentioned before, content is the most crucial component of a blog regardless of whether it is sub-domain or self hosted. Generating content is not an easy task neither is it cheap, which brings us to the often neglected topic of ownership. For a moment, imagine that the content on your blog is a prized possession, which technically should be. Due to limited space, you are not able to accommodate this showpiece in your home so you decide to store it at your friend’s home.

Check out this video by Vana Chupp in which she compares the three most popular blogging platforms; Blogger, Wordpress and Tumblr:

Your friend has 3 dogs, 2 cats and 4 unruly kids so although she is willing to take care of your showpiece for free, she can’t guarantee it safety. Given this, you still agree to store your possession with her, but as you drive away another thought strikes you. Your friend is not well to do, and may get rid of your stuff while you’re away for some cash so now you’re in a different bind altogether. If you haven’t caught on yet, Blogger is your friend’s house and where you’re content is not safe.
Fact is that you have complete ownership of your content, and can publish or redistribute it as you see fit, but so can Google. Here’s an excerpt from the Blogger terms and service:

When you upload or otherwise submit content to our Services, you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works (such as those resulting from translations, adaptations or other changes we make so that your content works better with our Services), communicate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such content. The rights you grant in this license are for the limited purpose of operating, promoting, and improving our Services, and to develop new ones. This license continues even if you stop using our Services (for example, for a business listing you have added to Google Maps). Some Services may offer you ways to access and remove content that has been provided to that Service. Also, in some of our Services, there are terms or settings that narrow the scope of our use of the content submitted in those Services. Make sure you have the necessary rights to grant us this license for any content that you submit to our Services.
We are constantly changing and improving our Services. We may add or remove functionalities or features, and we may suspend or stop a Service altogether.
You can stop using our Services at any time, although we’ll be sorry to see you go. Google may also stop providing Services to you, or add or create new limits to our Services at any time.
We believe that you own your data and preserving your access to such data is important. If we discontinue a Service, where reasonably possible, we will give you reasonable advance notice and a chance to get information out of that Service.

Considering the above analogy and the terms above, if you simply spent more money for private storage for your possession, you would have peace of mind knowing that it is safe regardless of the weather. If you’re looking to get into professional blogging or earn handsomely, Wordpress gives you the freedom to do so. Contrariwise, if you’re on a tight budget or are just a beginner, Blogger is a great way to get started.

Conculsion

Both of these blogging platforms are very good. Both are free to use however for Wordpress (www.wordpress.org) you would need a hosting plan, a good hosting plan is WordPress Hosting. However with blogger you would not need to buy a host because it is already hosted on Google's servers. You would need a domain name for both of them. I would recommend Go Daddy. If you follow this link you get 25% off: 25% off your first purchase! New Customers only!

Tips on How to use Social Media more Effectively

Social media is playing a very important in the modern societies around the globe. These websites are creating some amazing chances to earn money, provided the user is keen for earning money. It is believed that every coin has two sides, one side reflect the negative impact of, and on the other hand one side shoes the glittering surface. The same case is with the use of social networking. There is no doubt that countless counterfeiters are using the platform of social networking and due to them people has started losing their trust on these websites. However, in spite of all such frauds and scams social networking has been proven as one of the best available source to earn money. Even after so many scams, people are running their advertising businesses on the different websites of social networking. They are creating pages, trying to communicate with the customers, making effort to grab the attention of the clients by different tactics. At times promoters give some discounts or special offers while the next moment they use some other way to provoke the buying intention of the customer. These activities show that the social media has great potential to reach to the customers around the globe.

The expert promoters have confidence in social networking. They are of the view that these web sites are really important as by making use if these web sites we can hit a large number of people living in different regions and the most important this is its cheapness. The marketing that the companies has been doing on the web sites of social networking are not costly so they are more interested in this form of advertising.

Issues

In this article I would like to discuss some of the issues that are related to the social media and making money. In order to get the better idea of social media and its trend one ought to be aware about the issues and their solutions as well.

Trust is not there

Apparently there is just one issue with the marketing on the websites of social networking that people do not trust these pages easily. Certainly, people spend most of their time in twitting, updating their statuses on Facebook, sharing and enjoying videos on YouTube and the rest. But they do not trust people. So at times, it turns out to be rally challenging for the promoters to grab the serious buyers headed for their manufactured goods or service.

Irrelevant market

Advertisement can never generate any outputs or results if it is not communicated to the accurate and précised targeted market. You can never sell a shaving box to a lady and lipstick to a man.  Identification of the right audience is one of the main issue of social media, because it is almost not possible to differentiate every single user to start up the marketing and making money.

NO Response

Most of the time we use to delete the spam emails, because we do not have enough time to spend on reading irrelevant mails. This is one of the biggest issues that are creating problems for promoting any manufactured good or service. People do not bother any email, until and unless they have a clear idea about the sender of the mail. In such a scenario online marketing can never gain the status of 1st priority and if the same will not be dealt in a proper way this format of advertising will lose its attraction among the companies and businesses.

Time differences

Different countries have different time zone. This difference of time zones is because of the solar system and the moment of the sun. This is creating issues for the marketers on social media. At time when the promoters have to deal with the international market the feel problem because they cannot do at the same time. If an American has to promote any software to the people living in Asia, he has to wait and wait for a longer period of time. This prolonged wait can cause issues for the promoters.

Tips for earning money from social media

Bearing in mind that scam and frauds are very common on social media, if the people want to earn by means of social media then they have to make sure certain things before starting their business. In the following lines I will give you some key tip that can help you for progressive start.

Do not lie with the people

Always remember that trust is the key of any successful business relation. In order to get success people have to understand that they should not lie with their customers. Customers have great options and once they will be tricked by you, they will never revisit you ever again. For that reason if the person wants to establish some term relation with his or her clients he or she will never try to play trick on them.

Identify your target market

Target market and identification of target market is really important. People should not start their campaigns blindly; rather they ought to choose their selected market really carefully. Marketing to the wrong audience will go in vain.

Use attractive lines

Sugar coated information in an interesting way can grab the attention of the people. Advertising is basically playing with creative ideas and if a person has no idea about this he can never make money by means of social media.

Do not dictate

No one wants to be dictated. It is a natural phenomenon. In order to get the attention of the customers people should take care while selecting words, customer should not feel that he is being directed by the person he is dealing with.

Use simple language

Make your mind, either you want to sale you product or you want to endorse your language. After globalization English language is being admitted as one of the most influential language and people have no other choice but to understand this language. So in order to get a good response writer should consider the non-English people as well. This may help him to carter a wide range of customers.

Technology is making some dramatic changes every day and every day we are learning the challenges of technology. No one knows if the war of man and technology would ever end or not! At this time social media has given us a dare and it’s our turn to make best use of this dare.

How to use Google Analytics to Increase Traffic to your site

You can use Google Analytics as a tool to drive even more traffic to your site. Google Analytics isn't just used to show where traffic is coming from and to tell statistics about your site. What many people do not know is that you can use Google Analytics to analyse your website and increase your traffic thus bring more visitors to your site.

Firstly you might want to know a bit more about Google Analytics and where it came from. In April 2005 Google acquired Urchin Software Corp. and formed Google Analytics. Google also used and acquired Measure Map and integrated it as part of Google Analytics. Google Analytics shows quite a few statistics and is very useful for web developers, Internet marketers and online business owners. Google used to market this differently and had a premium version of their popular tracking software, which was Urchin but they discontinued this product on March 28 2012.

Google Analytics can not only track visitors coming from different sites. It can track visitors coming from search engines, referring websites, social networks and people that come to the website direct. Its a pretty amazing piece of software, isn't it? And it's completely free to use.

I am sure there is many guides and reports written out there for Google Analytics such as how to use Google Analytics, what it is, etc. But this article is different from the rest. This article will tell you how to actually increase your traffic and guide you step by step on how you can implement these tips onto your website.

Analytics is a great tool to check where the traffic on your website is coming from. You can even go into specifics and tell what city they are from, what browser they are using, how long they are staying on your website. However these are all great things to find out about your site, but the main parts to look at and on Google Analytics for your website are;

  • Traffic Sources > Overview - This lets you know how many people have visited your website and which date they visited your website on. It also lets you know the percentage of traffic that was direct, search engine traffic, referral or campaign. You can also use Analytics to track how good your AdWords campaign s doing and if it is worth it for you to carry on paying the AdWords campaign
  • Traffic Sources > Sources - Clicking on this tab in the sidebar allows you to see which website is referring the traffic to your site. It helps you to understand where the traffic is coming from so you can focus more on utilizing your time and effort on the top ranking sites.
  • Audience > Demographics > Location - Allows you to find out where your visitors are visiting your site from and also how long the average duration is of their visit among other stats. This is good information for you to see which country you want to market your website more to.
An example of the Analytics dashboard

Be sure to keep on checking the on Google Analytics regularly for change of patterns in traffic. Now, that doesn't mean sit on Analytics for 20 hours a day waiting for something to change. Just check it out every week or so to analyse the stats and to see what traffic sources you can focus on.

It can be very beneficial for you if you find out what keywords your users are using to look up your website. On the Analytics dashboard if you first click on Traffic Sources on the Search Engine part, you can find out what keywords your users are using to find your site. It gives you an insight on the keywords that you need to work on and the keywords which you have neglected.

Make sure you spend more time on the sites that bring you more traffic

This is one of the main things you can do and also one of the most important things you can do. If you spend more time on the websites that bring you more traffic and less time on  the websites that do not bring you any traffic, you are surely going to exceed. You will essentially be eliminating the sites that bring you less traffic. This is like the Pareto principle or more commonly known as the 80/20 rule, it is also used by Tim Ferriss in The Four Hour Workweek. This rule suggests 80% of your traffic would come from the top 20% of the sites that refer you.

Make sure you focus on the top sites that are referring traffic to your site

To check where the traffic is coming from and which sites are giving you the most traffic please follow these steps:

  • Select which site you want to see the stats of in the Google Analytics dashboard. Once you have done this click on Traffic Sources
  • Once you have done that click on Sources and then click on Referrals.
  • You should now see all the sites that have referred you and which sites are directing more traffic towards you. You can also see how long each user is spending that is coming from that specific site and how many of those users are new.
  • Check out which sites are outperforming which and focus on the ones that are giving you the most traffic. If Twitter is giving you the most traffic, start focusing more on Twitter. If Facebook is outperforming Google then focus more on Facebook.
  • Start doing more of what is working and less of what isn't working!

Produce more content that is popular with your users

Check out which content is already popular with your users. Logically, the content that your users already find helpful and are viewing the most, they will appreciate it if you produce similar content to it. If you produce more content that is popular it will attract more visitors, which will get more people sharing your content which will then bring you even more visitors.

Here's how to check which content is your most popular:

  • To check which pages are the most popular on your site, go onto the Analytics dashboard.
  • Click on the Content tab in to sidebar and then click on Site Content and All Pages
  • When you have done this you should be able to view all the stats about your site including which pages are the most visited
  • Analyse all the stats. Develop more similar content to the pages that are already popular.
  • You can also create a poll or survey and ask your visitors, what content they want on the site.
  • Write more articles and content that is popular
  • Share the content on social media websites that is popular

One last thing, you should focus on posting new content on your days that more visitors visit your site. If you post new articles and content on days that are more popular with your visitors, you will surely see an increase in traffic.

Google Analytics is a great tool to use to analyse where traffic is coming from on your site and how many visitors are visiting your site among many other stats. How to make Money with Google AdSense

Google AdSense is an easy and free way to make money online from your content. You can use Google AdSense to make money from your mobile content and your video content as well as website content. There are many people that makes thousands a month and that is just from Google AdSense. AdSense is not a get rich quick scheme neither is it a scam. How can it be a scam if it is owned by Google, the most trusted search engine in the world.

Many products and websites claim they have the secret on how to earn money through AdSense and they claim to make loads of money a month from AdSense, however these are scams and they are just trying to sell you something to make money from you. Do not fall for these scams and keep your money to yourself.

Google earns its money from displaying adverts from other website owners on its website and search results page. This is done through a program by Google called AdWords. AdWords is Pay-Per-Click advertising, what this means is that advertisers only pay Google for the times that people click on the ads and are interested. So they only pay when users click on their ads.

The ads that are displayed in the sidebar on the search results page that are titled 'Sponsored Results', advertisers are paying a certain amount of money per click to have their advert listed their. You can have the ads displayed on your site and every time someone clicks the ads you make a share of the money.

Google use an auction based system that allows advertisers to compete for the top spots, so whoever has the highest bids, they get the top spot. You can make about 68% from displaying Google AdWords ads on your site, Google receives the rest. This is basically what Google AdSense is.

Google AdSense is a great program and helps you site bring in additional income. Some people are making a very lucrative income from AdSense. AdSense is not as easy as it sounds and it is not the simple case of just joining and earning your millions. You have to create good quality content that people will want to read and among many other things.

How to set up a Google AdSense account?

AdSense does take a lot of work to make money from. It is hard work generating traffic to your website and to make sure you regularly receive traffic. This video below explains how to open an AdSense account:

AdSense is very easy to implement into your website and is a good way to monetize your traffic. The amount of commission you earn through Google AdSense is based on how much Google is getting paid by advertisers for the ad spot. You will earn a share from the amount. The amount you receive can vary from 1 cent per click to $20 per click, it all depends how much advertisers are paying for the ad spot.

It is hard to estimate how much you can get paid from Google, as only Google know how much each account earns. It is hard to estimate how much you will earn based on traffic. Because we do not know what advertisers are paying for each ad spot, it would be impossible to tell how much money you can make from Google AdSense.

Make sure you fill your site with content and do not just put together 5-10 blog posts and expect to make money. Aim for at least 50 blog posts before you actually start to make money. You will not make thousands a month of useless, crap content that no one wants to read. You have to make sure it is quality content that people will want to read.

It is very easy to join the AdSense program, simply go to adsense.google.co.uk and click on sign up. Once you are accepted onto the program, copy and paste the HTML code on to the body of your website and any other place or page you would like the ads to appear on. You can display either text ads or image ads, see how much freedom Google gives you? You can even choose how big you want the ads and fit them in with your current colour scheme and theme of your website. This makes your site look way more professional and we advise you do it, as it will look less amateurish.

Why does Google disable accounts?

Since the only way to properly know why your account is blocked, is for you worked for Google. But here's some reasons to why your account is disabled. These are just possible reasons and not actual reasons.

Some people get bots/automated clicks or fraudulent clicks. Google doesn't like this. Remember Google is running a business. So if they detect that you are trying to scam them in anyway or form they will close you down without telling you. Once you are disabled if you have any money remaining in your account, Google will refund it back to the advertisers.

Have you been disabled by Google AdSense? Here's some alternative PPC networks that you can implement into your site:

  • Chitka - Chitka is one of the top alternatives to AdSense. Chitka operates in a different way to AdSense. It is search query driven. This means visitors do not see the ads unless they are coming from a search engine.
  • Yahoo Bing Network - This is a new network consisting of a collaboration of two search giants coming together, Yahoo and Bing. Yahoo Bing Network is not currently open for people to sign up to. If you can't wait you can request an invite from them.
  • BuySellAds - BuySellAds is  a perfect alternative to Google AdSense and with revenue up to 75% and the pay-out limit being only $50, we can see why.
We hope this article helps you. If you have any troubles with AdSense or need help with any aspect, please leave a comment below. If you found this article helpful then please share with everyone you know!

Paid Advertising Vs Free Advertising

How do you feel about marketing on the internet? Is it something that is
tough or complex for you to do? Have you spent endless amounts of money
on courses and ebooks that you’re just looking for a real way to make money
online? If so, then you should know that you can make money with ANY
online business opportunities… the thing that will make you profitable is your
marketing strategy.

It doesn’t matter what you sell. If you can’t get traffic or get people to sign
up for your free email newsletter, how do you expect to make money when it
comes to offering people something that costs something? This is something
that you need a good answer to. Some people ignore this fact, and because
of it, their business doesn’t succeed.

To make money online, you need to make “internet marketing” your number
1 priority. If you sell ebooks, physical products, affiliate products, or even
services… you won’t get 1 measly sale if you don’t focus on getting people to
your website. And it takes alot of work. Now you can easily negate this with
paid advertising, but when the funds run out, so does your traffic.

There is a debate of whether paid advertising is better than free advertising,
and vice versa. My position on this point is that you should use both. But if
your advertising budget isn’t large, I would suggest advertising on pay per
click search engines (like Google Adwords”), and pay $0.10 cents on each
click that you get.

This way you don’t risk it all, and you can get a reliable number of sales each
and every month from this medium alone. I personally do more free
advertising than paid advertising. With paid advertising such as PPC, you
could easily get into a bidding war with another advertiser, and you will end
up paying way more than you can afford. So instead of at least breaking
even, you’re LOSING lots of money on each sale.

Can you imagine losing money on each sale? Depending on your loss, and
prices of your follow up products… it could probably take you around 2 or 3
more sales JUST to break even and recoup your investment when advertising
to your prospect. This is why I don’t put much stock into paid advertising.
Free advertising is sufficient, and is something that can bring you endless
traffic forever without any more work for you.

Now while free advertising is effective, it can sometimes take a long while to
work. But if you’re promoting your product or service on a site like Youtube,
you may be able to see immediately hits to your videos and your websites
altogether. This is the power of free marketing, and I think Youtube is a
medium that can get you a ton of sales in a short period of time.

The more you work at your business, the more it’ll be likely to succeed. If you
don’t remember anything from me, just keep that previous sentence in mind.
Good luck with using these tips to promote your business effectively
today.
