Anthony 'Tony' Robbins is one of the most profound and well known self help gurus and author of Awaken the Giant Within: How to Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Life . Robbins is a highly successful motivational speaker, author, life coach and occasional actor, when he gets time. The topics Robbins writes about vary, from writing about removing fear and increasing confidence to making more money and taking control of your life. Tony Robbins has been featured in many newspapers, magazines and TV channels including Forbes, Newsweek, GQ, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), Fortune Magazine and many other media publications. Robbins is the founder of nine successful companies with combined gross revenues of more than $50 million a year.
Awaken the Giant Within is a very long book measuring at over 500 pages. However Tony Robbins invites - dares - you to take control responsibility for you to create a life that you will love and cherish and live in accordance to your dreams and desires. Nearly every page is jam packed with advice and strategies you can implement into your life straight away. So you will be able to see change and improvement in a couple of days, if not quicker!
When you see Tony Robbins delivering one of his motivational speeches or if you attend one of his seminars you will see he always delivers them in an enthusiastic and powerful style. You can feel the energy that he brings to stage. Here is Robbins delivering one of his powerful speeches, you should have a feeling of empowerment running through you by the end of the video:
As you can see Robbins has an outstanding presence and is very motivational and very knowledgeable about life. A lot of celebrities and famous people have been coached or helped through his books. People include Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, Pamela Anderson and many others.
In Awaken the Giant Within the author talks about a technique he likes to call Neuro-Associative Conditioning. Robbins tells us that some behaviours we do are because we do because we want to avoid change and associate change with pain and they associate their old behaviour with pleasure. An example might include a person not wanting to exercise because he associates it with too much hard work while he might see just playing on the PlayStation an easier option. Robbins goes on to say that there are six steps to change this behaviour:
Decide. He says that to make any change whether physical or mental, we must first make a strong commitment to change.
Get leverage. To start changing and to motivate the person, he/she should make sure they associate their bad and old habits as malicious and painful and their new good habits with joy and pleasure.
Interrupt the old pattern. He uses a very strong neuro-linguistic programming technique. It is a very useful method. If you feel like you are going to go back to your old habit or behaviours do something unexpected to shock yourself. He writes in Awaken The Giant Within, "Next time you start to feel depressed, jump up, look at the sky, and yell in your most idiotic tone of voice, 'Hallelujah! My feet don't stink today!' A stupid, silly move like that will definitely shift your attention." Robbins frequently compares interrupting patterns to scratching a record so that it will no longer play properly.
Create a new pattern. You must have a new habit to replace the old one with.
Condition the new pattern. The fifth step entails having to keep on repeating the new habit until it becomes a habit.
Test it. Put yourself
Tony uses a lot of Neuro-Linguistic Programming throughout the book and he explains it interrupts our pattern of thought and creates leverage to help and motivate us to stay on track with our new decisions and habits. Leverage is achieved by creating pain to move away in our minds and create pleasure to move towards. This book will help you improve your existing businesses, make you become a better entrepreneur and help you become a better person overall.
He explains the different methods and techniques of Neuro-Linguistic Programming in a way that is simple and understand and very accessible, avoiding getting technical or using jargon.
This is a great book and in my opinion Tony Robbins is a genius. He has also helped millions of people and is a great life coach and speaker. There are many powerful techniques included in this book that if implemented properly can change your life. If you would like to buy this book then please click here to buy it on Amazon.
Chris Guillebeau goes on to tell you how you do not need a masters degree and two PhD's to succeed and how the average man can build a business and work for him/herself. You do not n,eed to be a millionaire either as Chris tells the story of many people and shows case studies of average people starting businesses that have gone on to become really successful and have started their business on a budget of $100 (about £60 depending on the currency rate).
First you might want to know a bit about the author Chris Guillebeau. Chris is an American entrepreneur, blogger, and author who also published The Art of Non-Conformity. Chris was born in Portland, Oregon, USA and attended the University of Washington and graduated. Mr Guillebeau set out a goal to visit every country on the planet before 35. Chris achieved this goal and visited all 193 countries on the planet before he was 35.
The $100 Startup is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestseller and is ranked #1 on Amazon in the Entrepreneurship category. The $100 Startup provides many inspirational and motivational stories that would inspire anyone to go for it and start their own business.
For his research during this this book, Chris found 1,500 bright people who started their businesses from scratch and earning $50,000 (which is about £30,000) or more who have started with a very little budget, often $100 or less. From the 1,500 entrepreneurs Mr Guillebeau narrowed it down to the best 50 and used them as case studies. He found that although the people had no special skills, but they did find their passion and make money from it thus changing their life completely and giving them complete freedom.
He complied it into one easy to read compact book and included all the valuable lessons from the people who turned their passions into glory, Its not that you have to be particularly skilled, you just have to go for it and create that product or service that you know people will want to be and gladly pay money for. Most of the people in his case studies don't have college degrees or have tons of money, yet they still make money of their businesses.
Chris Guillebeau writes in a very funny style that keeps the audience from getting bored. This is not once of those gimmicky self help books, this is one of the books that actually helps and will change your life.
The book is split into three parts:
Unexpected Entrepreneurs - In this section he tells you how to turn your passion and what you love to do into what people want and would be willing to pay money for. Basically he tells you about monetizing your skills.
Taking it to the Streets - This is the best section in the book in my opinion. In this section Chris shows you how to raise capital for your business, launching your business and how to get customers in. Some real good information in this section and worth referencing to every once in a while.
Leverage and Next Steps - The last section is all about learning how to test pricing and positioning the business, creating a franchise out of the business and growing past your goals and knocking failure out.
If you want to start your own business and want to find out how to turn your passion in to your business then this book is for you. It includes some excellent information and is well written. The case studies included are inspirational and make you want to take action. This book might even change your life...
An excellent Internet marketer may need some help from time to time. This book put simply will do more then just help you, it will help you achieve your goals, help you manage better, find greater happiness and much more. The Magic of Thinking Big will actually get you to think about the way you currently perform certain tasks and will help you become more productive about it. First we may need an introduction on the author.
David J. Schwartz was an American motivational coach and speaker and was born in 1927. He was a professor at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He also had his own consultancy firm which specialised in leadership development and he had a Ph.D.
With over 4 million copies sold worldwide this is one of the most popular books on motivation, setting goals and achieving what you want. This book teaches you how to get the most out of family, work life and your business in terms of getting to where you want. The Magic of Thinking Big uses many different useful methods and also helps you to change your mindset and attitude towards working.
The book is split into several chapters and each chapter focuses on improving different traits. Some of the things you can learn from this book include; how to build your confidence and overcome fear, how to take action, thinking like a leader and getting over procrastination while also dealing with many more problems.
This book is not just a shelf filler and is certainly not one of your standard average 'self-help' books that claim to do many things but don't do anything. This book will change your life if you implement the things mentioned in this book and actually take action.
Schwartz explains in his book how our mind is really powerful and if we use our mind properly we can achieve success and financial freedom. Schwartz is a very skilled writer and uses storytelling to explain his points further to the reader and provide examples. He keeps the reader interested and his writing style is a joy to read.
In the start of the book the author explains the importance of implementing positive beliefs and how you should always remain optimistic. Remember the sporting giant, Adidas's slogan 'Impossible is Nothing', this book tells you to think like that. If you don't think you can do it, then you probably can't. When you start thinking you can do it and be successful, that is when you will truly succeed.
This book also tells you about the different types of excuses that people come out with such as "I'm not good enough, or "I'm too old/young" . The author tells us these excuses are just little reasons that our brain comes up with for not wanting to do something. He also tells you how to deal with this quickly and effectively.
The book is packed full of helpful information and nuggets of advice and this is a very valuable book. As an internet marketer, this book will help you come over self-doubt, increase your confidence, give you motivation to implement your ideas and make you think properly. This book literally pays for itself in value and is very informative. This book contains exercises at the end of each chapter, that the reader can use to apply the principles learned to yourself. At the end of each chapter, the author provides summaries which are useful. If you liked this review, then buy the book now, you won't regret it!
Now to end this review with a quote by Doctor David J. Schwartz;
"Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution.”
The Four Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere and Join the New Rich is a New York Times Bestselling book which entails how the author Timothy Ferriss escaped from his dreaded office job in which he was overworked and underpaid and how he transformed his entire lifestyle. He went from earning $40,000 a year to $40,000 a month and he shows you how you can take 'mini-retirements' and completely redesign your lifestyle, just like he does.
Tim Ferriss's book has been a major success with it being translated into 35 languages and has sold more than 1.3 million copies worldwide, which is an impressive feat for any author. Among being a best-selling author Ferriss also holds numerous amounts of records and is an angel investor in many online companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Evernote, Shopify among many other companies.
The average person lives a life that he doesn't enjoy or actively want to do. They work in jobs that they don't want to do, yet have to do it as a necessity to earn money and survive. Some actually hate going to work and dread every second of work. Why is that? According to statistics we spend 1/3 of our lives working. One third of your life is a lot, right? So why spend so much time doing something you hate and at a place you don't want to be. Time is one of the most valuable things we possess and we cannot get time back, Tim Ferriss tells us how we can make more use of our time and spend more time on the things that we want to do.
Tim does discuss some unorthodox methods and this and some things in this book you will think 'What is the point of doing this?' However he has many good tips and tricks or 'life hacks' as he calls it.
He explains how he uses the 80/20 rule to become more productive and get more done and how you should also be using the 80/20 principle. The 80/20 principle is when you do 20% of something to get 80% of the results. For example; if you had your own business you should focus on the top 20% of your customers to generate 80% of your profit. The 80/20 rule or Pareto Principle was discovered by Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto. Using the 80/20 rule helps you get 'sh*t' done.
The book is split into four different sections and each section Tim Ferriss explains each section in detail. He uses the acronym DEAL;
Definition - In this section Tim explains how to get over fear and insecurity's about work, how to see past other people and how to get to where you want. He explains how it is society has made it acceptable for us to be working at jobs we don't like and that we shouldn't do that.
Elimination - In this section he talks about eliminating all the things you waste your time over and improving your time management and efficiency in getting things done. He talks about applying the 80/20 Rule (explained above) and he tells us that we should focus on the tasks that would benefit you. He says that a person is not lazy for working less rather he is working smart and efficient while getting the same amount of things done.
Automation - Here he talks about creating a business and creating multiple sources of income. He includes many techniques and includes a lot of advice in this section. This section alone would be worth the price of the book in my opinion. He lists techniques such as; Google AdSense, Adwords, Amazon Affiliates, Dropping Shipping and Outsourcing among many many others. Outsourcing is emphasised a lot through out the book and as it makes you save a lot more time. Your business can run on autopilot without you having to do any of the work and you still reap the benefits and receive more money in your bank account. Think about it, paying someone in India or the Philippines for $3-$10 an hour to be your virtual assistant. A virtual assistant can almost do anything you want regarding your business. Some of the things a VA can do are making and creating a website, HTML Coding, SEO, Advertising, Article Writing, Website Management, etc.
Liberation - After you have freed up your time and don't have to work 9-5 anymore, Tim Ferriss shows you what you can do with your free time. He gives you a glimpse of his lifestyle and show you what is possible. He goes on holidays in Argentina, Brazil, London, Europe among many other cities, continents and countries. He shows you how you can learn many different skills such as learning different languages, martial arts, or learning any other skills. He tells you how you can live anywhere in the world and your job should not limit where you are able to live in the world.
Tim Ferriss's book is an interesting read and is fill of many helpful tips and tricks you can use to get out the office and create your own business and do what you love. Albeit some of the things he mentions in the book are unorthodox, it is still a helpful book and a MUST read!
